I was involved in an accident about a week and a half ago, i was giving my son a ride on my motorcycle, and we were hit. The guy was cited with failure to yield and was considered to be completely at fault. His insurance just contacted me today and said they are going to total out my bike and wanted to give me $2700. My bike is personally worth way more than that, the paint alone on this bike is worth that. On top of all this my son is now having nightmares and wont come anywhere near my bike. He is pretty much scared of anything that moves, i was cutting the grass the other day and he was scared of the lawnmower which he never was before. What should i do? What can i do?
Should I get an attorney?

There are two things that you should do. (1) Ask for psychological help because you son may have not recovered from the trauma he experienced and (2) ask for legal help because of the emotional distress the accident have created on both of you. My friend was in the same situation when he called a lawyer from kenallenlaw.com. I was there and I knew how his son changed his behavior, always irritable. After a therapy, he is ok now. You too must start the therapy now as well as filing a lawsuit.
In a situation like this, wherein harm has been sustained, both physical and psychological, you need to hire a lawyer from theledgerlawfirm.com to assist you as you file a case. As you said, your bike, or even just the paint is more expensive than what they are offering, thus you definitely deserve more. Seek the help of a lawyer, and in case there would be a settlement, your lawyer would make sure that you will receive what is right for you.
According to accidentattorneyhelp.com, this could be a time to hire an attorney. However, if you accepted the settlement, it should be difficult for you to request for more compensation. Although, I am not an attorney, I have been there. I still could remember that the insurance company of that car who caused the accident to happen gave an amount not enough to cover for the injuries and damages I have incurred. Good thing, my attorney was there to defend and requested for more compensation.
