I was raised non-religious. But overal I'm missing a purpose in life, other than making money, have a family etc. I sometimes feel like a robot in a big factory called life. I think there has to be more than I know right now...

It's up to you if you want to believe in a God. You don't even have to follow a religion to believe in a God, for I am Theist (I believe in a God, but I don't follow any religion.) Nobody can tell you, let alone force you what to believe. You life, your choices. Listen to what people have to say by all means; but nobody has a right to dictate what you do etc. exculding family to a certain degree. I hope this helps you :)
Living while believing that there is a God is worthy. Regarding the way he created the countless billions of stars, the Bible says: “Raise your eyes high up and see. Who has created these things? It is the One who is bringing forth the army of them even by number, all of whom he [God] calls even by name. Due to the abundance of dynamic energy, he also being vigorous in power, not one of them is missing.”—Isaiah 40:25, 26.

Most important, recognizing God and his Son guarantees a chance to everlasting life (John 17:3) when the new earth comes or also known as paradise (2 Peter 3:13). But how can we live now while the new earth is not yet coming? And what are some of the benefits we can attain now and on the near future? I'm glad to answer.
Topher84, something that so many people who call themselves religious forgets is when one says that have faith in God, it requires action. Just like our Creator is a active God, so should our service to Him be active. You stated that you are missing a purpose in life and in this world that we live that can easily happen with all the badness that is taking place and that is why God has left us with the only thing that is perfect in this world for us to benefit from and that is His word the Bible. Inside the Bible there are so many examples of our purpose in life, in fact it was written specifically for us. There are many who do not believe the Bible is God's word but rather a book written by men. If we look at it this way, you have a secretary that works for a very large company and the owner of the company may need to have a letter sent to a client. The owner will tell the secretary exactly what he wants to be conveyed to the client, but yet the secretary will write the letter, then when the letter is proof read by the owner and signed then it would be sent out. Same is with the Bible, but we have to trust and believe that it comes from God and when we do we will be compelled to serve Him the way He wants us to serve Him. At that time you will see and know what your purpose in life is and how important your role is in God's eyes. I hope this helps you.
Absolutely. God sent his only son to die on the cross for your all your sins and mistakes. When you believe in him and follow him, you have an Eternal Father who is full of grace and forgiveness. God has the whole world in his hands and has a plan for everyone. He is omnipresent. If you follow him, he has a gift. The gift of eternal life in Heaven with him.
Yes, you should believe in him. God had his dealings with human kind penned in the Bible so that we can learn about him and from him. According to James 4:8 we are invited to "Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you." There is a huge benefit in learning about God: 1 because he is our creator; 2 because coming to know him means life. John 17:3 says: "This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ." So, yes, take a moment to look into God's word the Bible. jw.org
Your feelings of emptiness is telling you there is more to life. We were created in God's image and likeness. That means we were all created with a spiritual inclination that needs to be nourished. Imagine you have a child, you and your child have a bond that only you and your child can feel, you love and cherish that child, doing everything in your power to protect that child from harms way. If you feel so committed to your child, what about the one who created life itself, the one who gives you the breath of life every second of the day,is not he worth having a relationship with, thanking him and showing him appreciation for the life he gave you.
God word tells us at James 4:8"draw close to God and he will draw close to you. Even though God created us he never forces anyone to serve him. How will you feel if your child decided to turn their back on you never showing appreciation for the love and everything else you give? No doubt it will pain your heart and be a great disappointment to you. That's how our Heavenly Father feels when we don't acknowledge him. He deserves to be worship. Without him life is meaningless.

The best thing to do when one is looking for meaning, looking for purpose, is to go on a quest. It is a blessing to feel like a robot in the big factory called life. It is an amazing gift to be in such a situation. It is time not to have any blind beliefs, or follow any scriptures blindly. It’s time to stop, to ask questions, to investigate, to realize the Truth. Ask yourself the question - what was the secret of your birth? Before you were a baby, you were an embryo, a single cell, a zygote. How did you come into existence? What will happen in the end? What happens at death? Where do you go? Why are you doing what you are doing? Why are you just earning money? What is the purpose of your existence? Where is God? What are heaven and hell…how do we go there? Let us stop and ask several questions, then we will realize the Truth.
