A anonymous number messaged me rudely last night while I was asleep so I answered with an amazing comeback (if I do say so myself) when I first saw the message this morning. They have just said someone else has done this. Even if I don't know them, what do I do?

DO NOTHING! Why should you appologize from him/her? It's that person who did messaged you (by mistake or not) , ...not you. So don't say sorry. It's not your fault. So keep your demand/pride/status! :)
PS: Sometimes it might be someone you know who tries to do an ugly joke. Be aware of that if it's so.

Thank you. I've answered saying I thought it was someone else and didn't apologise but was polite about it, I guess I over thought it a little...I tend to do that a lot:)
