I brought home a cat for the summer that lives with me at school most of the year, and as it turns out he has bonded significantly with one of my mother's older cats. They groom each other, play, touch noses all the time, and almost always sleep back to back. Is it ok to separate these two or would they be very depressed? School is 3.5 hours away.

animals are similar to humans they have feelings and built relationships too so if thieve bonded allot and have become very close and are now being separated it would be like being separated from a friend i remember i use to have to cats who would always hang out together play together sleep curled up next to one another groom each other they were both always full of energy but when one of them had to be put down because she was getting older the other one grew sad and would just sit in her bed with time she was back to her old self but yes cats feel things so if you separate them they might become sad now my cats knew each other for 5 years
