How do I find out the quality of shortwave radio reception without buying a radio?
I live in a valley, and it's also a very hilly area. FM reception isn't too good, and AM is almost impossible.
Please help me. I don't want to screw up financially.

Radio reception depends on so many things that you just have to hook up a radio and see what you get. You might get stations all around the world around 21 MHz but no such luck at higher or lower frequencies. You might get distant stations but not nearby stations. You might get stations from one direction but not another. It can even depend on weather.
I suggest you ask other people in the area what experience they have had. "More expensive" does not mean "more sensitive", but "cheaper" might mean "not good enough".
I'll try that. Should I buy a cheap one around $30, or should I buy the one that I was thinking of buying, which is over $300? (tecsun s2000)
I'm not sure on buying the expensive one, because I don't want to buy it and find out I can't get anything.
