... also have a service animal that is recognized by the state of california. There are new laws that this condominium installed last month about paying a $25 registration fee for maintaining a service animal.

I have contacted an attorney and also spoke to specialists and this condominium is violating a lot of service animal owner rights. Upon recommendation, I was told to write a letter to let them know I won't be paying the fee because of the federal and state laws etc. The office manager said that writing a letter will not do anything, that I have to go through a process of appealing to the Board of Directors.

The office manager that only the owner of the unit can hold a meeting with the Board of Directors, but is I who own the service animal. Basically, the Board of Directors will not speak to me unless the unit owner, my boyfriend's mother, fights in my defense. I feel that since State and Federal Laws are being violated by this condominium, the case is between me, the service animal owner and the board of directors. I do not require, nor would like to involve my boyfriend's mother.

Is it legal for this condominium to refuse my appeal because I am not the owner? I am a registered tenant with a $25 registration photo badge to prove it
