I am a student doing an extended essay on the following subject : to what extent has language and image changed beauty perception through time ?

Well as for the language part, something I read comes to mind:
The sounds in words change how we feel about them. For example: the word "long" as pertaining to hair, has a very long o sound in it. A pleasing sound. When compared to the word "short"--which is choppy and seems cut-off--you can see why we have learned to associate loooong hair with beauty.
Not sure if that is what you are looking for, but it is definitely something interesting to think about and that you can notice in the words we use everyday. Good luck on your essay :)
