How many pieces of fruit are in the bowl?

There are lot more types of fruit than bananas, apples, oranges, and pears...there could be an infinite amount of fruit in there (given that the bowl can be of infinite sizes). That's what makes this a horrible question.
I mean, technically, "all but six are bananas" means everything in the bowl is a banana except for 6 of the items; that statement by itself could mean there could be 20 bananas and 6...lemons (something not on the list of fruit they gave), totaling 26. But it also says "all but six are apples", so everything in the bowl is an apple except for 6 of the items, so the other 6 would be bananas, but there could be an infinite number of apples. But it also says "all but six are oranges", which makes it 10x more confusing, because we already established that the remaining 6 should be bananas, so where would the apples be?
Lol, I feel like the "I clearly cannot choose the wine in front of me" scene from Princess Bride.
Frankly, if this were a math or logic problem given to me on an exam, I'd just want to say "6 [lemons]". or "10 [6 lemons + 1 banana + 1 apple + 1 orange + 1 pear]"
There is 8. Two bananas, two apples, two oranges, and two pears. So, if all but six are bananas then you know that the remaining fruit total six. The are equal amounts of fruit because the number doesn't change when you switch fruits. So, since there are three other types of fruit totaling six, then there has to be two of each fruit.
