As I've come back from Summer vacation, I've felt comfortable around absolutely no one. I stopped talking to my closest friends suddenly, and feel awkward around them. I talk to no one in my class, except when needed to. Best way to make friends? I'm painfully shy, and can't stand talking to anyone, including teachers.

As someone who has been in your position before, I must tell you from personal experience that it SUCKS. It's always nice to have a friend to hang out with, do homework together, or just plain talk to. I feel you and know where you're coming from. It is hard to transition from the wonders of summer. I think that if you just keep your head up and try to talk to your old friends (or make new ones), you'll feel more comfortable in no time. If they do indeed make you feel awkward, maybe finding some new friends would be a good change for you. There's always your family to talk to. I'm sure your school offers events and classes after school that you could participate in. It might give you an opportunity to try new things and meet some different people. I wish you all the best and hang in there! I know that sometimes life can be hard, but the best thing you can do is try to make the best out of it!
