Hello I have been running my computer without a surge protector for a year now. I know it has damaged my hard drive but has it damaged my CPU?
I am thinking of changing my hard drive but not sure if I should splash the cash on a new CPU.

All areas of the computer can be affected by a power surge, have you tested your system with SiSoftware Sandra Lite (System ANalyser Diagnostic and Reporting Assistant) or with specific programs Memtest86, to check RAM, CPU-Z & Prime 95 are good for checking processor stability/damage.
Also it is advisable to test your PSU, with "Power Supply Tester," as this is the first to see a surge.
I assume you have looked at the SMART test on your hard drive to establish damage is present. Have you tried to reinstall Windows?
As with any problem it is best to change only one thing at a time, so the effect of the repair confirmed directly.
Hope this helps
