I have a question how to handle finances with a move between my roommate and myself- my roommate and I are on a month to month lease (we ve lived together for 3 years) , I have found a new place and gave my roomie notice on August 7 about my September 10 move. I offered to help find a roommate but they still have not decided what they want to do yet. If by Saturday (aug 27) I havent heard anything yet I need to sit down with them and talk about how we will handle Septembers rent. In my head regardless or not if they are going to get a roommate OR keep the place to themselves, I don t feel that I am responsible for paying for rent past the 10 days of September. Am I correct in this assumption? Since I gave proper notice? My landlord made it clear he wasn't getting involved, and I am preparing myself for this conversation with my roomie which is why I am asking for thoughts/ options. Thanks!
