Recently started working at a restaurant and the manager who was listed on the liquor license was denied due to her record. So they asked if they could list me as general manager. I was very excited I got approved and I received a card to carry at all times from the beverage department. We got the license but the owner made someone else manager. I want to be the manager I don't think they should be able to benefit from my clean record and my only reward is free food. I am going to talk to him about it but first on need to gett facts straight. Is it illegal to have my name listed as manager, but not have me as the actual manager? What should I tell him when I talk to him about givinge the position listen on the liquor permit. If it wasn't for me and my clean record we wouldn't even have one! Thanks.
Restaurant got liqor license because of my clean name didn't make me manager. Illegal? What to do?

Personally I do no think you have a leg to stand on unless you have a written agreement that states that once you receive the license they will make you General manager.
You also state that they asked you if the can LIST you as the general manager which in my book does not suggest that they would make you the General Manager. Only because you want to be the general manager does not make it so. Do you even have the qualifications needed? You do not mention that either.
Suggest you run this past a local attorney and see what they have to say.
Might also post it on this web site - they give legal advise - and see what they have to say http://www.freeadvice.com/
