Religion - Many religious centers offer "free" book and handbook. What is the proper way to dispose?

A religious book is NOT like an ordinary book. More respect must be given to it as it has much spiritual energy and it is a guide to the way of life.
Why do we pay more respect to our king, our religious teacher, our VIP - it is because it has much meaningful value than a common fellow being..
A religious book must be disposed with a proper ritual (which i don't know how). Likewise an important people to us must be addressed with a proper manner/title.
