ive hung out/hooked up with a guy i have worked with a few times this past week, and he seemed keen about me, so i started falling for him. i then found out he got back together with his ex today. should i even bother caring?

Honestly, yes. If it was a few times this week and he just ups and goes back to his ex, that would give a used feeling to me if i were in ur shoes. What a jerk! That being said, you don't have to make a scene about it unless you want to. You don't have to be nice about it though, a good cold shoulder towards him would probably help out. Guys can really suck sometimes. Sorry you had to deal with that
