Ethical decision depends in part, on policies and expectations at particular company. Also on perhaps requiring more information. It should be ethically illegal to just give the information about that personals life .It should be your obligation to know who and why he needed for security and following the rules in company.
To communicate with sick employee. I will know what files they are going to copy and then if I can’t call my sick employee, maybe I will consider sending or going to my employee’s house to ask about this other employee’s request in copying his files.
Asking for permission from manager. I will Request authorization from manager, or employee’s line manager due to copy all files from the sick person’s computer to another worker.
Reason for need all information. I would ask why he/she needs the information because personal files should be private and cannot just share it to someone. If the reason is valid then I would just give him/her some information about the person, but if not, then I won’t give any information about the person.
To secure all transfer files. I won’t still approach this employee because sharing one’s personal files should be secured because it should be your duty as an employee to obey the rules especially because you are working on company.
In actual case, system manager refused to transfer all files, but agreed to transfer specific files if given the filenames.
