...  an arrow.However , each time i missed the target by a narrow margin. Can you explain to me why i misses the target and how can i hit it with more accuracy ?

Answer

Objects at the bottom of a pool of water appear to be in a different position to which they actually are, because the light is diffracted (bent) on entering the water. To aim more accurately, try submerging the tip of your arrow into the pool and aim using this diffracted image of the pile (i.e. take the line from the bit you can see under the water).
