Here is sentence from CNN News: "First story we're covering involves a controversial executive order concerning travel to America."
Question: why does this sentence has two Verb? "be doing" and "involves"? I was taught that each sentence can only has one predicate. Thank you!

Well, if you were to take out either word, the sentence would no longer make sense. Technically, they should not say "we're covering" because it is obvious who is covering it. It should be "The first story involves a...". It still makes sense grammatically, but it is overworded.
