Is it true that scientists have made or discovered a bacteria that can eat/disolve plastics .if so whats it called and what all will it eat/disolve?

I'm not sure of bacteria being created but there is certainly a lot of interest in discovering bacteria that "digest" our pollution and there are bacteria in the oceans which have been feeding on the Atlantic and Pacific Garbage Patches. There are some bacteria on land which digest types of plastics too.
The big problem is that plastics contain things which are poisonous and they also attract other poisons. If they are eaten by bacteria and become part of the food chain, they eventually work their way upwards to the bigger animals and perhaps humans too.
Interesting , what you think the bacteria would do with whats in the picture.
