When I was a small child and had seen Mulan for the first time I felt an instant connection. Since then, as I got older it seemed the connection got stronger, and I even knew things about Asian culture, without having to search it. Now as I'm 18 and, know of Korean, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese culture, my connection is strongest. Is it possibly because of a past life?

You do realise that's the western interpretation of a fictional character with which you're bonding, right.
"Past life" would make for an unnecessarily quixotic interpretation for a mundane phenomenon. You have a 'natural' preference & admiration for these cultures, because they're ubiquitous and happened to percolate your consciousness growing up. In doing so, further attunement of absorption in this specific direction is only logical.
Why precisely favour this over the rest of the information highway in which one is immersed, is difficult to isolate for scientific observation; however, I've seen some mentions of it. Withal, there's no denying many of your generational peers have embraced the same concepts. I think that's fortunate on your part.
All that said, If you really care about these cultures, you may be more satisfied with active participation than "knowing of" them. Mayhap you already are, I dunno; but I know I was in that state for many years, indecisive because society didn't seem to approve. I deem it more important for you to be whole with yourself. If believing you have the soul of a chinese warrior woman suits your perspective, then believe in that.
Postscript: Unless I'm mistaken, reincarnation seems more of a central concept in hinduism than buddhism.
Thank you for the information, but I have new information as well, my family recently did a DNA kit thing, and turns out I have some Asian heritage(Japanese) so now I understand the connection. Also I didn't word "know of" well, I actively watch, listen and sing Asian cultures music, movies, dramas. I even tried learning Korean once. Thanks again for your input
