a^m * a^n = a^(m + n)
Thus
2^3 * 2^-4 = 2^(3 + -4) = 2^-1 = 1/2 = 0.5

Do NOT mix 2^-4 = 1 / (2^4) = 1/16 up with -2^4 = 16

2^3 = 8 and 2^-4 = 1/16
8 * 1/16 = 8/16 = 1/2 = 0.5

2^3 = 8
2^-4 = 1/16
2^3 x 2^-4 = 8 x (1/16) = 1/2
