I have completed my computer engineering from some college and great desire to work in java . However, there are many basic things about which I am unaware. Today I went for an interview, he asked me those questions about which I was doubtful. As a result, I couldn't answer. When that sir got to know that I have done BE he was shocked and he said that it's a sad that I am comp engineer. I am totally shattered because I am working really hard to learn java . Cannot share this with family or friends.

IMO you are focusing too much on the tool -- think more about the goal / goals you want to achieve by using tools.
Tools can be very good to have / know, but you shouldn't forget that they are a means to an end.
IDK about the interviewer -- seems to be a shollow personality. I realize it can be difficult the way other people behave sometimes -- but remember: it's not you, it's them.
