Hello!! First off, its not that important to have long hair, but I'll tell you what to do if you want to grow it. First, you have to pamper your ends which means to treat it as if its your baby. Add oils such as, almond oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, or any oil daily to your entire hair. Second, cut back your usage of heat. Heat slowly cooks your hair if your not careful how high the setting is. And, its not healthy to use it EVERYDAY. Third, try to use protective styles, such as bantu knots, braid outs, buns, cornrows, or even weaves/braids. This will thus give your hair time to rejuvenate itself and thus grow, while also being protected(specifically the ends). Fourth, its not a race, your hair may grow at a different rate than hers, so that's probably why it might be longer. Its not about the age, but the commitment. Fifth, start putting deep conditions, as well as the inversion method in your regimen. Deep condition is simply after doing styles on your hair you give it nutrients and more added moister. The inversion method is using any oil(accept vegetable/cooking oil) and heating it up till warm then massaging it into your scalp. Do this while flipping your head upside down for 4 minutes for one week, and expect 1/2 to 1 inch or more of hair growth, but only do the inversion ONCE a month. Sixth, start eliminating shampoo when necessary, and use conditioner to co-wash your hair. Co-washing is simply washing your hair, but without the shampoo. This helps your hair to not be stripped from the sulfates most shampoos have, and conditioner also acts as a moisturizer. Seventh, do a protein treatment. You can either purchase it pre-made, or make it your self. You can do this by using eggs, mayo, honey, and conditioner. This helps to revive curls(if natural), and also give it a shinier healthier look. Do the protein treatment TWICE or more a month. And finally, BE PATIENT!!! Your hair grows when it wants to, so don't expect so much from it. It'll continue to do its thing as long as you help it along the way. Oh, and also, avoid drying your hair with a blow dryer or towel, use an old shirt, or let it air dry. And sleep on satin pillow cases or wrap your hair at night. Doing these few simple steps will surely not only grow your hair, but will also make your hair healthier, and you stronger as an individual. I hoped this helped!!! HAPPY GROWING!!
