a). How do I send a friend request using twitter?
b). On Twitter what exactly happens when I click the 'Follow' button on someone's page?
c). What exactly happens when I use the 'Tweet to user name' button on someone's page?
Please number your answers accordingly. Thank you ahead.
A) All you have to do is follow the person that you want to 'befriend'.
B) When you click the follow button, the person that you followed gets a notification that tells them you followed them.
C) The 'Tweet to Username' button allows you to mention someone in a tweet and I assume they get a notification for this as well.
What did you actually mean about the 'Tweet to Username' button when you said "it allows you to mention someone in a tweet"? Isn't this button used to send a tweet / message to the receiver?
It's publicly posted, like on Facebook, if you enter someone's name they're tagged in the post and they get a notification telling them so.
Yes, that's what it's used for, but not privately. I think. I'm confused now.
Thank you Madison for your replies. I didn't mean to confuse you. Facebook is pretty much straight forward unlike Twitter.
In Twitter there is another button called 'Direct Message', that's used to send private messages if the individuals are following each other. But for this to work the individuals must compulsorily follow each other. If the 'following' is single sided 'Direct Message' will not work.
That's why Madison I tried the 'Tweet to username button' which I think is supposed to publicly send/post a message on the other person's page. When I use this button, I do get the message that it's sent. But I can't see it on the other person's page in the 'Tweets' or/and 'Tweets & replies' section. Hence the confusion.
Are you on Twitter? If you have the time maybe we can experiment and find out the results on the various combinations if you don't mind. Would clear stuff off for both of our sakes. Please let me know. Good day Madison.

a. There is nothing like sending friend request, you can follow any person in twitter if their account is not private.
b. That means now he/she is in your follow list and you will be able to see all their tweets I mean update in your home feed.
c. That means you are mentioning someone and tweeting to that person, so he/she will get notified that.
