Please give your thoughts on the oscar awards. Why they are good/bad what they do to society etc?

This is for my homework but I can't come up with any normal ideas. We will be later discussing with other students this. I have to choose whether I'm for or against these awards and why

I feel that the Oscars can help to motivate directors into not only appealing to the audience and media but also try to appeal to film critiques by using new ideas and great plot instead of just trying to click bait the media into paying for it

The oscars and award shows which honour movie makers contribute to the arts and culture development of northamerica and globally. Thry draw attention to films and actors etc which draws attention to the arts in general, specifically cinematography though. Just like the science, political, liturature sports realms all contribute to a countries culture, so the arts are an important factor, and what awardshow for cinematography is greater globally?
