A close friend of mine has multiple personality disorder. We never really talk about it because I find it disrespectful and don't want to trigger any bad memories. Last night I had a dream about the other personalities, not my friend himself. What does this mean? I found it really odd.

1. It is not called multiple personality. The correct name is Dissociative Identity Disorder.
2. How does your friend know he has it? Unless he has been diagnosed he doesn't have it. He should be in therapy.
3. There should be no memories; when a personality takes over the person is unaware and has no memory of what the other personality does or says.
4. DID is rare to very rare depending upon the age category. So be careful that your friend isn't making up stories.
Your dreaming about it means absolutely nothing. Dreams are abstract and symbolic and usually do not mean what you actually see in the dream.
He was diagnosed, and in some cases some of the personalities do know about the other ones. Sometimes none of them do. It is normal.
