If that phone is $1500 it better be a damn awesome phone. I've seen phones costing thousands of dollars, like twenty something thousand dollars. I'd rather buy a TV or a PC for that price or something worth $1500. I think you are either being ripped off or you are buying the brand name rather than the phone.
