Hey. Parenting is difficult, but if you look at it a certain way it can be a lot less stressful. I'll try to give some key points in my opinion of parenting:
-Always put the kid first. As a parent, nothing is about you anymore. You brought someone into this world and it's your responsibility to take care of them.
-Be the kid's friend. As a parent, you want to be the person your kid goes to when they're having problems. You don't have to have all the answers, you just have to be able to hold your kid and tell them it will be ok.
-Be the kid's friend without letting them run wild. You still have to do what's best for the kid. You have to make sure they know that you love them no matter what, but there are rules in place for their protection, and if they break those rules, they have to be punished.
-Make sure your kid is safe at all times. You don't have to be the parent that stays at a five year old's birthday party or gives there kids condoms, but you have to make sure your kid knows how to stay safe, and if they don't, that you'll be there to save them. If your kid is very young never leave them alone.
-When your kid is old enough, you have to give them some space. Kids learn by doing. Eventually, you have to let them start doing things.
-If you need help, get it. There's no shame in having your mom or friend watch your kid while you take a break or sleep. If your unable to take care of your kid at the time, don't, at least not alone, but still be there. You have to do what's best for your kid, and part of that making sure you're physically and emotionally healthy enough to take care of them. Take care of yourself to.
Good luck!
