Pea sized lump in calf tripled in size the last 2 days. No pain Hard as a rock. Any ideas what it is

This lump has been with me a few weeks. The last 2 days its tripled in size and become hard as a rock. Its completely painless, but there is a slight reddish cast to it since it started to swell. I do have a Dr apt, but would like to have some idea of what it is while I wait.

it could be  a cyst  or a boil  i thought it might be a ingrown hair but you didn't  say if it was in that area mabe one of the hairs turned around and grew inward  its a possible  you could put hot packs on it and see if it comes to a head
