Lets just say if someone who is working at pharmaceutical company found a formula for ending cancer but this person was just connecting dots from previous hundreds scientists who worked on this particular formula,so the question who is getting the credit and right to patent this formula:
a) The person who found the formula
b) The whole team who worked previously and get to that point
c) The company who invested money in the research
d) Everyone

"a" would get the nobel prize but history would record "d" everyone involved. The company "c" would make a frikken killing on the drug and get all the money and the patent as it is a normal contractual stipulation that anything a person creates while under the employment of "xy company" is the intellectual property of said company. For examples see Edison and S.Jobs who both took credit for 99% of the work their subordinates did.
