My father dropped out of our lives for 3 yrs (literally, not one call) and has been doing cocaine and drinking heavily. (I mean heavily drinking) Now he comes back around out of nowhere and wants to simply pick up my 14yr old daughter like nothing happened. I said no. I told him he cannot pick her up and have her in his car until I know he put all the drinking and drugging behind him. We want to see him of course and are happy he has come around but hearing him say he's "fine" just isn't enough. Of course drama ensues. The tears and the "I wouldn't put her in danger" but I can't let her go with him until I know he is clean. Whether he gets clean or not is his choice. Wouldn't any good parent do this?
