So I own 4 snakes and I have been bitten before(my fault for feeding the snakes wrong). my step sister(6 years old) came up to me and asked are you going to have a pet when you are older and I said yes, snakes then she said they will bite you. And I said not they wont and she kept saying snakes bite. So I asked her mom why my step sister is scared of snakes and she said because they bite and are dangerous. And I said they are my pets like dogs they are friendly. And she said they are not like dogs they are wild animals. I know they are not like dogs but they still dont bite. I said its bad to teach kids to have fear of snakes and she said not its a normal healthy fear. she is just being ignorant and does not understand snake psychology but I need to know what do I do? it really makes me sad for my step sister to say my pets are dangerous because of her moms fear. What do I say what do I do?
Parent says fear of snakes is normal?

Hmmm. This is interesting.
Well, it is normal, just like fear of spiders is normal. Some snakes are poisoness. But it is not not normal to not have a fear of snakes(I know a lot of nots).
Snakes are dangerous, and can kill you. That is proabably why your stepsister has a fear of snakes. But some are harmless.
You tell her that you don't have any harmful snakes(and hopefully never will). That is what you say. And what you do? Nothing, in my opinion. Well, what you want.
Hope I helped.
A fear of snakes is really common but mostly because of their appearence. Snakes are often seen as slimy, fanged creatures known as serpents. So its only natural for a little girl to be afraid of their fangs. Just tell her that its a domestic snake and wont harm you.
Thank you you did help. I think you are right I will just tell her that mine are harmless and hopefully she will believe me.
