How do you view women with tattoos?

So, I am getting my first tattoo, I am 28 and picked something with meaning. I have been putting a lot of thought into what I want. I decided to get it on my wrist. 

A conversation came up with some friends and other people. A person said I will no longer be respected by men once they see my tattoo, and that I will be viewed as "low", and below them. 

I am still getting it, I am doing it for me. :) but it opened up a huge conversation among my friends and thoughts on this topic seemed to be split in the middle.

So I am just curious, what's your opinion?

I'm not a big fan of tattoos in general, but in my opinion it depends on where the tattoo is located and how many tattoos a person has (doesn't count just for women). I think one small one that means something to you is not a problem at all. But if you have too many colourful tattoos all over your body, especially on arms and legs it can look a bit trashy very quickly and I think that a person can get judged easily.

Even people who claim to like tats call them "tramp stamps". You can see lots of tattooed ladies on the internet, but they always seem to be young and naked.
