Hello,
I have an outdoor cat that has come to adopt our family for the past two years. Recently it developed what I believe to be a hematoma on its ear. At first it appeared to be an injury on his ear, we thought he must have gotten into a cat fight. Then after a few weeks it developed into a huge, bloated bubble covering his entire ear. Eventually the bubble ruptured and for the past three months at least, it is one big bloody mess covering the entire ear. Because he is an outside cat he won't let us take him inside to clean it. We also cannot keep him inside for long periods of time to monitor any type of healing process.
I've been doing a lot of research and I think he may need surgery if we want to permanently treat his ear. I'm worried that it could lead to a really terrible infection, if it hasn't already.
The problem is that I am in no financial position to pay for a pet surgery and I'm pretty much at a loss. I can barely afford a general vet visit itself. I feel like I have to let him suffer.
Has anyone else been in this position? Does anyone have any recommendations on how to deal with this situation?
