Online speed test gave optimal results but actual download speed slow...why?

Question

I currently have Verizon Fios 50/50mbps internet.
When I download like a file or even downloading a game client, the max download speed I get is around 7mbps.

I have tested the online speed test; the results was: 55mbps down, 54mbps up.

I don't get it.

Speed tests gives me the right speed but when I actually download or upload something, its always around 7mbps.
If I get like 30mbps download speed, I can cope with that. But 7mbps with subscribed to 50/50mbps service.....that's a huge difference.

Is there like a router settings or some kind of advanced settings that I need to change?

Computer Experts, it would be a great help to me if anyone can help me with this problem.

That is a DNS failure, sometimes called gateway error. It is very common. This failure has been around for at least 15 years that I have been aware of it. It's hard to troubleshoot because people tend to blame it on the site owner's cheap software, or poor equipment, while the site owner blames it on somebody doing complex searches in the database. It clears up after a while, so everybody forgets about it.

The fix is to run your own DNS server. Go to www.analogx.com/contents/download/Network.htm and download Quick Cache. I have One! Count 'em! One! MBPS cable service for which I pay 15 bux a month. The operation is identical to the high speed service I used to have, for which I paid 55 bux a month.
