The square feet of your house has nothing to do with it. You have to add up the load (kilowatt-hours) of all the appliances you want to run. Next, you guess how many days of cloudy weather you might have to endure and that determines the capacity of your battery back-up. Then you figure the peak power, which usually means ac, stove, and water heater all on at the same time, and that determines converter capacity. Square feet of panels only determines recharge time after a cloudy day. Any dealer can show you how to estimate these things. Usually the first thing you do after talking to a dealer is to investigate other ways to power the ac.
