I have a kindle fire hd which I have had since Christmas. About a week ago I tried to listen to some music and my sound wasn't working, I turned my kindle on and off and nothing changed. Since then I have done the same but, it is still not working. Any suggestions on how to get my sound back?

try rebooting it like this
TO REBOOT YOUR KINDLE FIRE:
Make sure it's fully charged. Unplug the Fire.
Hold the power button in for a full 30 seconds (count them).
Press the power button again to turn it back on.
The "kindle fire" screen will appear for a couple of minutes while it's coming back on.
Thank'you, it's just so annoying X
There can be a solution, depending on what happened.
1. Reboot the Fire. Maybe something randomly made the sound go off, and you should just reboot it.
2. You can download the app, QuickMute Volume Control. Maybe your volume just doesn't work, or is stuck in place, so try using this app or another app like this to control the volume. This helps a lot if for some reason the volume doesn't work.
3. If you accidentally dropped it in water, it might have went into the hole where you plug in headphones. This causes no sound, because the water triggers something which gives sound to the item triggering it. Maybe you can get something small and put it in, trying to get the water out, or you get get your headphones/earplugs and keep plugging it in and out, wiping water from the headphones/earplugs.
4. Maybe an app which has a mute button muted all sound when you hit the app's mute button. You can try looking for that app and tapping unmute, close all running apps, or delete each app until sound comes back.
4. If nothing works for you, pretty much just contact Amazon. Unless you can find something, you can't really do anything else.
Thank'you will have a go X
