In england, can school sixth forms legally take any age if they state they take students up to nineteen? Because nineteen year olds are classified as adults and before I saw sixth forms that allow up to nineteen, I thought that sixth forms were only allowed to take up to eighteen because they only have that licence.
I'm only requesting legal information, not probability of them accepting.
Strictly, there's no upper limit on the age of further education. My mother did her A levels in the same year I did (she as a mature student in her forties). When universities required certain grades of A level (or international baccalaureate) for all students, it was quite common for "mature" students to study alongside 16-18 year olds. Since universities have relaxed entrance requirements for mature students, it's not common at all any more.
It doesn't come down to a licensing issue, it's more than A levels are less important to mature students than they used to be and so it's rare to see mature students. Besides all that, resit students can often be over the age of 18.
You generally only find documents about restrictions, not where there are a lack of restrictions. I can't find anything on the Department of Education site so it implies restrictions are on a college by college basis.

Some have age restrictions 16-19, some 16-23, and some don't list restrictions. Nearly every college would take 19 year olds, though.
