Thanks.

Thanks again. I totally misses the time line. It should have read 4 weeks instead of 4 months. The original queen was dead in the package of bees upon arrival. I am betting she was dead the entire time she was in the cage with the package of bees. I replaced her the following day with a queen from the seller. The bees never ate through the candy to get her out. This I observed 4 days after putting her cage in the hive. I opened the end so she could escape the cage then gave her more time to acclimate before I disturbed them again. This hive was quite active but I surmise that a worker had taken over the role of queen and killed the new queen, thus all I now observe is a limited number of bees and drone cells amongst the comb. Unless I am erring I will let this hive finish its life cycle.
