Which is correct?
a) The air conditioner is operating on Cool mode.
b) The air conditioner is operating in Cool mode.
The difference between the two sentences is the preposition used with 'Cool mode.' Most A/C manuals use the preposition 'in' but to me, 'on' sounds more natural. I've asked a couple friends but I'm getting mixed responses.
I can't find a grammatical reference that defines such cases either... please help !
Thanks for the input. That's what most people say when I ask them in person but almost all written documents(A/C manuals) go with 'in'. That's what confuses me.. :(
Ok, the air conditioner is on the table not in the table right? So the air conditioner is operating IN cool mode not on cool mode. How can it be on cool mode? I don't feel well. Not I don't feel good. It tastes good not well, right? See the subtle differences. Also called a nuance. English? whom can get it right?
The other one could work in some situations though
