If fuel is leaking out of the carb via the breather pipes, it could be that the needle valve, that lets fuel into the float chamber from the tank may be worn or a piece of grit is in it or even the floats are set at the wrong level all of which can stop it from sealing. Take the carb off, remove the float chamber bowl, check the float level hieght ( by usually measuring from the carb/bowl face to the top of the float as it rests on the needle valve & check against the manual specified hieght & adjust by lightly bending the float tab ( that bears on the needle valve). You can check for sealing by connecting up the carb to the tank & manually lifting & lowering the floats to check fuel flow on openning ( away from the face ) & full sealing upon closing ( towards the face). If leaking , blow through to remove any grit, still leaks, remove & replace ( should be a cheap part !)
Please take the opportunity to clean through the carb, make sure the mixture needle is centred, all jets & passages are clear using petrol & compressed air. Do not move any mixture screws!
Reassemble and try.
I hope this is of help, there are manuals on line (often free), come back if to me if you wish for clarification(s)!
