My touchscreen tablet got a water spilt on it but I can turn it on but the touchscreen wont work?

i found a cup of water spilt on it when i woke up and it turns on but the touchscreen is unresponsive so i can not unlock it 
how can i fix this 
it is in a bowl of rice right now but is there a quicker way??????

It sounds like it isn't totally dry where the water spilt but at the same time it might need to be fixed if it doesn't start or turn on soon it may have to be taken to someone who fixes those kinda things.
