My stepson is four going on five, I have been in his life for a while now and me and my husband recently married and we have been trying to come up with something other than my first name for him to call me, I'm not his mother I don't want him to call me mom, but on occasions he does. We just want something that doesn't seem so much like I am his friend but a adult parent figure in his life. I have read that most people out there don't find it disrespectful... but we...I do. I feel that the first name basis is saved for certain people not for a child, you are supposed to be helping raise. Suggestions, ideas, comments? I've dug through what information I can find on the web, but none of it really relates to this situation in the sense of what I am trying to find an answer for.
My stepson calls me by my first name? Help please?

My friend is in the same situation. Sometimes her step-daughter calls her step-mom or step-mother. Her step-daughter never really calls her mom but sometimes she addresses her step mother by her first name. I know your stepsons only is four turning five but sometimes it's hard for the children to know what to call the step parents. I hope this helped at least a little bit sorry if it didn't.
