My iPod is dead and when I try to charge it it says it's charging but it doesn't charge at all?

If you plug it into your computer does it work? If it does try resetting it. You can also take it to the nearest MAC store, a lot of times they can do simple stuff for free. They usually let you know if they need to do more they will need to charge you, but they tell you before they start.
