My husband gave away something that belonged to my daughter. Would it be wrong to ask for it back?

If he did it without her knowledge and permission, then you should talk to her about it. If she wants the shirt back, then your husband should apologise and get the shirt back. Perhaps he could buy a replacement shirt for the person he gave it to?
