My friend said that cafe is pronounced as caff rather than caf-eh or caf-ee. Which is right?

"Caff" is British slang, the normal pronunciation would be more like "caf-eh" or "caf-ee", since the word comes from the French language and has an 'é' in the end, which will be pronounced like 'ee' or 'eh'. :-)
