I had a visitor come around who used my Flavor Stone fry pan to cook in but used a metal spatula which scratched the stone coating. In places you can see where there is like a film that is peeling?? I'm wondering whether it is still safe to cook in or whether this coating may keep stripping off and getting into the food. If this does happen, is it poisonous or safe to ingest? Thanks!

The film is polytetrafluoroethylene and it is the safest man made material in the world. However, where the film peels the food stick, and that is very annoying. I suggest you replace it with one of the new ceramic coated pans. They are as good as Teflon but not scratchable.
