..and you're telling a 12 year old how to take care of an adult and judge when would be a good time to call and ambulance, excellent work.
If there are no family or family friends around then call an ambulance and let them deal with it.
Hopefully she didn't take any other medication that cause drowsiness because it can be fatal to overdose on ambien mixed with another depressant. I would try to keep her awake as long as possible an give her water. If she falls asleep then keep checking to make sure she's breathing. If she stops breathing call an ambulance.
Ambien is not considered nearly as dangerous as opiates or benzos. It's very hard to overdose on ambien. Taking enough to be loopy is very easy to do, but taking enough to die is not easy. The chances are she just took a little too much which honestly is not a big deal. However, it may have been a suicide attempt in which she took a huge dose, idk. So in the interest of keeping her alive in that case obviously call an ambulance.
Not everyone has family or family friends around. These are kids and you have no idea what situation they may be in. Your answer may be a useless waste of time.
