On Microsoft Word 2007, I remember clicking something a bit like word count but it also told me about the average amount of words in a sentence and things like this but now I can't find it. If possible, what is this called and where can I find it?

METHOD 1:
Open your word document, and on the botton bar (called the status bar):
1) Select any free space and right click. This will open the Customize Status Bar options list. Verify that the "WORD COUNT" is selected.
2) On the status bar look for the WORD COUNT (you will see Words:yyyy Example Words:764 )
3) Double click the WORD COUNT, and a box will display the document statistics.
METHOD 2:
1) Select REVIEW in the ribbon
2) In the PROOFING group, click on WORD COUNT and a box will display the document statistics.
If you want to see the word count for a particular selection, simply highlight the select text and open the word count box
