The case would never get to court. Courts have ruled that a person's name is whatever they say it is. The law has no power to force any name, or pronunciation in any particular language, or spelling in any particular alphabet. The DMV only requires that every name a person uses be recorded. An MD is required to use the name on the diploma for all professional purposes, but that is a professional requirement, not a law.
