I am 18 yrs old, living in NYC, and currently enrolled in classes at my local community college, but I'd like to start working in the medical field, and attend school part time. I'm debating on getting my certification as an MA or a CNA/PCT.
My ultimate goal is to become an RN and work in a hospital. Some have told me CNA/PCT (which, at the school I am looking to go to, I take both classes together and it says it is "Advanced nursing assistant"), yet some have told me an MA.
I want to know which would help benefit my career as a nurse more. I've heard MA's predominantly get hired in doctor's offices but some also work in hospitals, and CNA/PCT's get hired in nursing homes and hospitals. I would love to be in a hospital, and make somewhat of a steady income. I also want to make sure to know EKG's and phlebotomy. I just need to know which would be more beneficial to assisting my career in the future.
Thanks!
